There Are Dragons Beyond These Lines

There are dragons, beyond these lines
which I untie in the deliberate tameness
of the absence of colour in the morning. I reaped the night
although you couldn’t know it, because you were asleep
and I whispered ripe spells to the mouth of your dreams
not wanting to awaken you. I become a guardian of stars
and sing to the silence, as I sit upon the margin
of ink adrift through rivers of recalled
textures, where roots of deep universes
sprout, further ahead, the sea
while the arrival piles waits upon the memory
of the sand. You can’t see how I glide caresses
along the skin of an ache which the soul of lights
wants to keep, like you, submerged only in love
and it is good, or simply right, that you continue to be lulled
in the devotion of my vigil. I want the tide
to seed happy moonlights onto this shore where I offer you
the writing of all my kisses.
I want you to read the transparent sky unveiled
within eyelids shut to all the brume.
I want, wide open, all your certainties upon my lap
and thus I cover you with the choice, smooth,
of the hues rising in all unutterable horizons.
There are dragons, beyond these lines
but here, my love, there is the peace of a poem
which you wrote when time, tired of fighting
had fallen on the deliberate tameness
of a rotten morning, so that both would let
colour die. You sang to the mouth of lost dreams
these stars which I now guard, and in my breast
you awakened the voice of waves beyond dried riverbeds
and ink clotted on the thistles of the margins.
The waits then became arrivals in flight
and the shore spoke of caresses, in screams of cure.
Here, there is but the soul untied
of a deep universe which shall sprout
from the roots of this submerged love, all the tangible spells
whenever your breath reaps, ripe as you awaken,
the light, in balmy vigil, which you seeded within my breath
on those other mornings of brume condensing nights
and absent colours, when the ache never slept
and the dragons ruled
on this side of the lines.

Dearest friends, this poem simply burst from me early this morning, with such power that I couldn't ignore nor delay it. So, I'm leaving it here, before Joseph and I go on to yet another day at the horse show. By the way... your wishes of good luck worked wonders; The horses did beautifully yesterday! Thank you!

Have a magical Sunday, with endless Love&Light*!

I think Joseph just slayed the dragons or at least took the fire from their tongues. Alexandra, you have such amazing talent and skill. Wonderful poetry, Dawn

Oh Dearest Xuxa,

I do not heed the dragons and, for me, there is no absence of colour in the mornings when I awaken by the breath of your kiss. And, although I may have been asleep, all my dreams have been awakened by you. With your light shining upon me, I inhale the writing of all your kisses. All the dragons have been slain, my Love, and Love, once submerged, has broken the surface to breathe beyond time!

My breath is yours, minha vida ...
Teu Joseph

Alexandra this left me breathless! I can understand how it would burst forth, the incandescence within cannot be kept pent! Splendid poetry!
