from the terrace, I run a leisurely, deliberate finger along the contemplation of sunset then touch it to my tongue. it tastes of cherries and of peaches not quite yet out of their blossoms. and this taste makes me greedy, all of a sudden, so I dare taking a bite at the blushes dripping juice all over the horizon. and I find that it all is just too good, too splendid not to be shared. with my finger still smeared of thankfulness, I beckon those lips that always gather the entirety of my utterances long before they ripen and feed them back to my amazed silences even sweeter. now, yes, the sunset is replete, because its contemplation seeps into our kiss and then floods the terrace with the essence of all tastes.
The taste of Love, in a kiss, whether a morning greeting or that of goodnight, is sweeter than any fruit we are blessed to enjoy on this earth. Gorgeous prose, my Love, with an aftertaste that lingers in the heart.
A further collection of poems, many from years in the Middle East, but also the California San Francisco and Central Coast areas (Santa Cruz, Carmel, Big Sur, Berkeley, etc.).
If you tend to believe romantic, passionate, masculine poetry is a thing of past eras, read "She Intrigues Me," and be swept away in the beautiful craft of a contemporary poet of love.
