THE REPOSE OF WATER
trough sand, through stone, through accidental roughness, abrupt slopes
and dams, fugacious suspensions which promptly let me go as torrent
of a course the bed must never hold. of tranquility, at spaces
where the margins strew with caresses a reflection, on me converted
in hair awash and loose, of the willows, and shadows, round and wet
as kisses that light may be decanting from open lips of leaves.
drifts my body along the voluptuousness of deltas, in brief passages
where it is enfolded by the legs, the arms, and more of a lush ground
which, in fusion of end and of beginning, neither synopsis
nor script of absolute, pervades and suffuses me, deeply -
as I suffuse him.
and I may be of passions, floods, of sprinkles, of sinuosities which
conversely, return me, in confluence, to the spirit of my source.
but never of draught, and even less of void, as fierce as the fire
of any summertide may be, because in that very fire I drink
the foundation of those thirsts for which I flow and go on
ardently sating.
of ice, hardened, never the roughest of winters will make me a path;
rather, made temperate through this glow which I don’t know whence
it comes, perchance from moonlight or sunbeams that, into me
nights and brumes may subtly pour, my ripples will always guide
of cold the despondencies, and, of wind, the chills and laments
to the warmth, lulling, of my breast.
then, I throw myself, in fervent gush, beyond the estuary, into a sea
untamed and vast, like into a wild desire; with him I lay and we make love
in tides, roaring or whispering, from abyss to erect wave, the same echo
in one orgasm.
and it is this epilogue, unfathomable and dense, which nonetheless, diaphanous
as foam, surges me to what is but a prelude of being water, once more;
merely water, never entirely exhaustible, and yet, in other body with
the essence of herself, consummated – and with more salt, languidly
sprawled upon a beach, at last finding her repose.

"as kisses that light may be decanting from open lips of leaves."
This line struck me as one that scales the heights of poetic thought.
The entire piece is startlingly sensual and spiritually soothing. Intensely passionate throughout yet allowing the reader a breath (a sigh) at the end.
I find that my heart is quenched by the essence of your soul flowing so freely with love.
Amo te muito,
