The touch of vision

From my eyelids I wiped memories
as if I were repeating fingered exorcisms.

I blinded myself within to the blush of many
afternoons before and the dense green
of many canopied refuges after.

Upon both and in between, with aromas
of tea, of cedar and of wax, I used to invent
senses and floors, and to lay absences
as corporeal as names, spaces and desires.

Then, I saved myself, assuming that I was
shattered in a thousand or more pieces
of a thousand or more mirrors placed, like
so many portraits, on bedside tables polished
by the echoes that fill empty rooms.

I left myself behind, like the last look
one throws out of a curtain-less window
to go die upon a glance of a garden peacefully.

And this was how I came to appear blinking
upon a blank page; and it is from here that I
want to write myself; to you and now.

With naked fingers and eyes shut -
guided by the touch of the only vision that matters.

(Vacation was good… well, wonderful, actually, albeit short – and now it’s time to return to those other varied aspects of life that make it so interesting. Work (on several “fronts”) will be calling as from today – in a few hours – and, from now on, coordinating a wide span of activities and schedules will become, once more, the inescapable “must”. I know that, in all this, I won’t be able to dedicate as much time as I would like to something I genuinely appreciate, and which is interacting with my friends and fellow authors here, in AD, but I most certainly will keep doing my best to make, of what little time I may be allowed to spend here, true quality time – of the kind that involves undivided… or the least possible scattered attention. And, because I totally concur with this quote - “Silent gratitude isn't much use to anyone. ~ G.B. Stern” – I may run out of time for any other words… but never for these: THANK YOU!)

Alexandra this has to be one of the most beautiful and meaningful poems I have ever read, the very soul of the poet exposed. It affected me so deeply I couldn't help but cry.

There is beauty in the jumbled shards that reflect that vision of the whole being.

And what a spectacular vision you have, Dear Xuxa, always seeking and seeing beyond the visible. Your writing is unique, in that it serves as a light that invites others to "see" what you "see", thus gaining new perspectives for their own lives. And you make the journey so enjoyable, like a walk through a beautiful garden.

Muitos Beijinhos,
Teu Joseph

... These lines could be a poem in itself, dear Alexandra. A perfect summation of the blank canvas demanded by each and every fresh inspiration our Muse brings... After all, you can't INhale unless you first EXhale... and this is what the emptying of self is like that you describe here, perhaps. And all to gain, acquire, capture fresh vision. You picture is so complimentary.

May all be and go well with you. We are blessed for every moment you can spare to be with us here, but know that wherever, whatever, you will be cultivating and acquiring brilliant inspiration and fresh insight so as to spread a banquet before us on each return. Your "Thank Yous" are more than enough...

"Poetry is the art of saying things once", says Scots poet Don Paterson. You so eloquently embody the spirit of his wise words... and uniquely.

Go placidly, love Kate xx

Alexandra this is one of your utmost best at least in my books, it has such a soft easy beauty about it as if you were taking the reader by the hand and in a voice slightly above a whisper telling him a story. Loved it.

Missed, welcome back! because you have return with thousand pieces of mirrors to show us thousand portraits.
The mind had a feat with images from the words.
