In(fusion)

The day pours into me, into this round concavity

of perceiving it with the
unfussiness of any

awakening thirst;

However, I delay myself in circles of thinking

but not wanting to, pursuing themselves

with a slow finger, around the rim;

As if the mouth, much too desirous, would

be, absurdly, denying itself the first sip -

or that irrevocable loss of virginity of the undiscovered

when the tongue penetrates its flavour, and what IS

glides down the throat.

Yet, it scalds, this delay that suddenly breaks me -

and thus pours me, infused, intact;

And the day drinks me, amazingly refreshed -

like a fountain, plain.

Update for my AD friends, fellow authors and readers:

The path is still as rocky and winding as it’s been the last few months. My mother is now being submitted to chemotherapy sessions every two weeks, which means that the frequency of our trips to Spain, where she’s being treated, has increased… but also means, in turn, that time for everything else – a heck of a lot that needs to be done in between those absences from home - has proportionally decreased. This is why so many reviews of your writings, so many replies to your messages of sympathy and encouragement, and, especially, so many and deeply heartfelt thanks to you all for your extraordinary support, are so long overdue! I hope you may forgive me for this strange kind of – as a friend has defined it – “letter-writer’s block”, which also seems to affect my mental ability to comment on what I read… and, in spite of time’s scarcity for that, I do read quite a bit of what many of you share here in AD. Strangely enough, though, and after a concurrent, rather long period of creative writer’s block, my “maze of a mind” seems to have found a way out of itself… by following a sudden, spontaneous trail of inspiration; a luminous trail that, unbelievable as this may seem, burst, without a warning, from the very rocks and twists of this path, and took the transformed substance and essence of… an article, then a poem, and then another poem – the one I’m happy to share with you today, on this very page! Perhaps creative writing is, or may indeed become, as many of us may have wondered, a path in itself – a path of release, of relief, even of healing; a path (especially when it’s a poetic one) of… sane insanity that overlaps the one of… some “insane sanity” which we must, for some reason, keep walking upon for a while. So, with my gratitude to you all for bearing with me, as I walk upon such separate, and yet, sometimes, overlapping paths, here goes a very warm, deeply affectionate, all-encompassing {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{hug}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} – and may innumerable luminous trails burst from any rocks and twists there may be upon your own paths, always!

Alexandra, Love means never saying I'm sorry...We all love you, and you are such a beautiful light that shines here. Do what you must, for in your heart you know where your path is. Listen to that, and you will never falter. I still send healing energy to your mom. I will especially in these next two weeks..I feel this is a very critical time for her. Your poem, it speaks to my soul, and know that you thought of and cared for and most of all loved.
In peace, love, and light,

What an odyssey! I love the day 'pouring into me' and 'drinking' me. Well done I say. What a lovely update, too. Cheers with beers!
