I see You from behind my mask of glitter
for avoiding involvement, despair and
failure is my intention

For the nakedness of my soul lies behind
my mask forfeiting freedom
dare to risk the unveiling, appearing a fool

Intensity of my thoughts, yet darkness prevails
hiding in the shadows
afraid to give of any love, lest it not be returned

Yet longing for that special someone to vision
beyond...rescuing me from this imprisonment

This mask that drains my heart and soul leaving
canyons of emptiness and bleakness of frenzied
mindlessness controlling my every thought

Will I be able to break free of these nighthawks
lurking in the dark shadows of mind control, free
at last to attend the ball without my mask.

Summon the yeasayer ~end this masquerade~
captivate her beauty, rescue this damsel in
distress, clothe her naked soul..with everlasting
loving adornments to compliment her body of
innocence sending her demons
back to the Hell from whence they came
