Poem Artwork

A tangible sanctuary or virtual imprisonment
identity need not be by rooms of given names
nor structure of the walls neither entering by
way of bridging a moat or gated picked fence

So what to feel by being there is to classify
by home or mere house denoting one's value
to be your heaven or hell of existence

Bless be the address known to be of Your
name materialized as a home of comfort in a neighborhood safe by day amid nights serene
with decor in living color

Dear Vivian,
Have received your note, and acknowledge the wisdom contained therein. Although there are days when the atmosphere is not serene, I know it is home and my heart dwells there, where I can wait for healing of hurts and renewal of comfort.
Thank you for your blessing.

Sincerely,
Occupant

and the wear of my existence be ever unadorned
with all but the adoration of the whom in whom
we all abide, bid stay by far or wide so though
we roam, we room in whom we love

...and I do love this fine poem of yours, dear Vivian!

Peace always,

Your first line sets this up brilliantly, so true, so painfully true!
I always enjoy your insights, Vivian, very muchly so.

You make some very valid points here, Vivian; a house is but a structure... ...it is love that makes it a home. Love and best wishes to you,

Your choice of illustration is apt. Hearst must be the epitome of someone who did not grasp the concept of home. This reminds me of the old idiom, "home is where the heart is".

Blessed be the address known as a home of comfort - no matter how humble or extravagant. Amen to that.

A lovely poem and picture of Hearst Castle, San Simeon, California. Thank you for the memory remembered of "The Sandpiper", a great love story with Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton at their best, filmed in San Simeon.

Last stanza nailed it down for me, Vivian. I was holeless back when it wasn't cool. Seen my share of missions, blah, blah, blah. Good poetry.
