This puts into words (different words admittedly) what a motorcycle instructor told me once about reading the road and anticipating what might happen. It has worked so far so your advice is very apt. Perhaps that's why the sign still does not apply.

Right off I am only laughing about the picture, a friend of mine and I joked about false teeth :)

But we cannot plan, we can only face the situation when it is presented to us. At that moment discernment is our friend. Past behaviors etc., using your own mind and own judgement. Roads are what they are we all travel them it is our learning.

Ah, Vivian, you know people never thing bad things are going to happen to them, so they ignore the warnings until life's harsh realities compels them to wonder why they didn't read and heed.
