Build for a Wind

~Build for a Wind~ 

Undermining strategy needing a
deep reserve of determination
and resolve impeding gainful
movement forward into
ramifications by the shifting
sand of your castle standing
in your way, pretty though
it may be, quickly becoming
one's liability

Unsettled in ways that make
it hard to get in touch with
your inner spirit of stability
when engaging gusting winds

Leave the sands with footprints
building on solid foundation any
given Sunday..a coming home
indicative within

For some reason a Hendrix song came into my mind when I read this poem on the theme of transience. I suppose no-one has come up with a better analogy than the sand castle. I like the little nod to John Muir's famous saying about footprints.

On any given Sunday, the shifting sands of football mesmerize the masses. I could give a flying***! ;-)

Your poem, on the other hand, is sound advice for those who build houses of their lives without considering the nature of their environment.

I enjoy the verbal dexterity with which you bombard your reader in an active passage through your poem, especially in this case where your subject is at once so static and impermanent... oh, the sophistry that goes into firming up so shaky a foundation as that house built of sand... yet all it takes is a shift in perspective to buttress bastions of faith and formulate a far firmer foundation... I also like the way you leave us with the internal ... it has to be an inner transformation, doesn't it? I agree wholeheartedly with Christine's concise comment below.

Nothing is ever certain with the exception of strife,
