I was always taken back when I rode those streets,
living just down the road from San Francisco..
back in the day.. of such a different world from me
Twenty three years in California (Northern and Southern) gave an innocent Southern gal quite an education, but I loved "The City by the Bay" THE most! And part of my Heart like the song is still there...
“San Francisco girls, with their San Francisco ways… San Francisco nights and San Francisco days.” I was only there three years, a straight Midwestern engineering student caught up in the Summer of Love. Those were heady times I'll never forget.
They rode it for a moment and reached for the brass ring, but then it all crumbled, and they had to return to reality again. Leaving the painted pony sad and gray.
I remember great times in visiting San Francisco many times, like going to Golden Gate Park on July 4th and fog was so thick we had to eat lunch in our car and running like crazy kids along Fisherman's Wharf. It goes on from there. Thanks for the memory.
Cheers,
Dan
