We are not certain of what we are actually seeking in life.
What do I want? Perhaps stability, but that by itself is hardly what I desire. Is it the company and closeness of those I’ve liked and those I admire? Perhaps that alone will lead to quarrels, and regrets that I have little known. Even the companionship of that one I long for will sicken and sour to the bone. Is fame what I have long been seeking? Till when will fame rest with me? Is power my destination? Power disgusts, when peace leaves and I am only The butt of ridicule amongst the powerless who’ve done little but disagree. What I need is liberation from every bondage, from every breath totally free.
This book represents a thirty-day period of my poetry journal. Each poem addresses
the dominant thoughts occupying my mind during the early morning hours of a given
day.
