Being Political

To be political is not the game the politician plays alone.

It is what happens rather naturally to man; some pretend though

To be apolitical. Aristotle ought to have said, ‘Man is a political animal’

Instead of ‘social’. Though to be social is to be political, no less.

The wife wants power from the husband, the son from his father.

The secretary wants to smile her way through the boss’s heart,

With goals beyond the smile. A smile is a ticket to the school of politics.

Rhetoric coupled with connived charm, can twist the strongest arm.

Putting the ego in cold storage is the next step to political advancement.

Claiming to be for the community, when the self is the real motive,

That is how the political mind goes, hiding the thorns and putting up the rose.
