JIPPY HIP ....

I like expressing myself in rhyme. I feel I can make up a poem about just about anything. If I get the first line then mostly it just flows from there. And I can usually do it in about five minutes (I don't touch it again or mess about with it). I'm hardly a poet laureate but I like what I compose.

This one is about the very real tear in the ligament in my hip (not exactly the most cheerful of subjects for a poem, I know) and the way it affected me, but even that can be amusing, even though I was in agony and I recall the time I tried to make it upstairs on my hands and knees as I needed the loo urgently ...and didn't quite make it. Yes, I laughed at myself then.

It's all healed now though, thankfully.

Jippy Hip

My hip was working perfectly fine

And then I got a strain

My movement took a sharp decline

And I was doubled up in pain.

Don’t ask me whence the strain derived

I haven’t got a clue

It’s just a wonder I survived

The agony I was going through.

I’ve crawled up on my hands and knees

I’ve limped to catch my bus

I’ve winced my way through prayers and pleas

And really made a fuss.

Why now this ailment, harsh and bold

attacks my perfect hip?

And why when outside’s really cold

does it proceed to give me jip?

The doctor says to take things slow

It’s going to be a while

Till all is healed but even so

It’s altered my expressive style

My gait defines the shape I’m in

It really isn’t fun to see

Me limping out and limping in

And struggling on from A to B

Still …

The pain I know will ease so long

as I stay medicated

I’ll know exactly what was wrong

The pains, when hurting has abated

 Alas, of course, are age-related.

You're much too young for it to be age related. Perhaps it was attempting a move that you used to do that you shouldn't attempt these days without a little stretching exercise. Whatever it is/was, I certainly hope it's on the heal, even though this poem has a certain amount of other folks' hip appeal.

Hah! And I'm not laughing at your poor hip, but at the age-related remark. I understand that all too well. Eh . . . Medication to soothe the pain until you are all healed. Thatsa good. (Swear and cuss? . . . No! Not you!) By the way I do know the difference between swearing and cussing. Heh.Heh

A hip tale was told,
about getting old.
Wear and tear,
will make you swear,
in 4 letter glory.
I'm glad your hip's ok now,
but it was a painfully funny story.
