Still waiting for you, mom
even though I'm now grown
still wishing, mom
that you'd come home

For all the tears I cried,
still waiting to be dried

Never felt your fingers, mom,
on my damp cheeks
never felt your loving arms, mom
holding me until I sleep

cowering under the covers, mom
fearing the monsters under my bed
crying out to you, mom
to come cradle my head

Don't remember your scent, mom
never smelled  your perfume
can't remember your face, mom
smiling from across the room

I never knew you,  mom
never had you for my own
still need to know  you, mom,
even though I'm now grown

This is a kleenex write for sure Denise! Such yearning and sorrow for what never was, and is still wanted.I hope whomever this is about gets what is wanted. But I also hope that if it isn't forthcoming, the person gets on with life and doesn't live it as if
there is failure involved. Life is too short to be lived in guilt, for what can't be.

Heartbreaking poem, Denise; very well done!

Very heartbreaking! Such faith creates a void that just can't be filled but by the real touch of the real mother. We wish for you to receive it, good luck,

Dear Denise, your poem is very touching. I found my mother when I was forty-years-old, I pray you will also. Just reading your poem stirs up a lot of feeling in me. God will never forsake you. Love, Betty Torain.

This poem saddens me. I cannot imagine being this situation but I must commend your strength for being able to express all of the complex emotions that others bottle up inside. I pray that the Lord will replace your sadness with joy and for every tear you have shed I pray that the Lord will replace with an overabundance of Love, comfort and a double portion of the Holy Spirit for you and your family.

You, who have shown me great and severe troubles,Shall revive me again,And bring me up again from the depths of the earth.

You shall increase my greatness,And comfort me on every side.

Psalm 71: 20-21

Beautiful capture of emotions and longing of a childs loss as viewed through the years and now by an adult. Sad but the reality is true and the heartache is painful to witness.
