Can one see the pain a child suffers through his/her eyes? I believe if we really look, we will be able to see it.
We walk with her and talk to her we play with her and pray with her we laugh with her alot but her pain we don't see her cries we have forgot that haunted look,, a plea for help ignorance is no excuse ignoring is what it amounts to she passes me everyday but how do I reach her? what can I say? She is blonde, brunette, red curls and black ponytails she plays at school, she sings and church she could be five, or ten, or even fifteen she loves to read, she loves to write she giggles and skips rope but her innocent eyes are void of any hope but I see her, I know her and her eyes, they ask me why? her smile says she is alright but the eyes don't lie Her world is in turmoil her life, a saga of pain her days are spent in shame a shame that is not her own so many of us, yet she feels so alone She has learned that one can die without being dead for she dies each time daddy crawls into her bed, or uncle Tom babysits How can I help her? how can I be the voice she needs to help her cry out, "no more!" can my words unlock the "secret" door? she is a tender flower, made to be happy not to bruise and make cry she hides behind a happy scene but the eyes don't lie.
Denise, The call for help in the eyes of children are always there, they just need somebody to listen before it's too late.
Touching and painful write...Lisa
Denise,
I am not the least bit ashamed to tell you that I'm crying as I type... This is an outstanding, poignant write. And it's all here, it's all here - I pray that others see/hear/react. We all know this little girl, whatever her age may be. But sometimes, we just don't know that we know her. Thank you for being so courageous. A full clapping, standing ovation, my friend.

Gary Grasshopper and friends travel to another field to celebrate the birthday of Gary's best friend, Freddie Firefly. While there they encounter a group of cicadas who have been underground for thirteen years.
