Screaming wind sounded like a bevy of banshees,

Smugglers cove sheltered many within.

Wolfish battering against rocks so relentless.

Fusion of nature drove the knife in.

Ships at anchor struggled in the spray,

Lightning sparklers emphasized there splay.

Timbers creaking as if desperately speaking,

For the end of this violent day.

Swollen drops of rain rattled loudly on the decks,

Main-chains jawed like long dead bones,

Hoofing up the gangplank steps.

Then as if in a gesture of surrender,

A small sloop broke clear.

Crags appeared and disappeared taunting in a sneer.

Crackling her bow split like a wooden fountain.

To be cached in an immense pyramid of squall,

Clattering of chains now complete the ball.

Intoxicating, rimrock lashed her to the core.

Smugglers wayward minds,

Never saw her any more.

Just evidence that something graced the waves,

Washed drift on the sandy bay.

One night blown into ribbons succumbed to the ocean waves.
