undoing

earthbound wraiths

gnarled fingers reaching

skyward

seeking union with

their heavenly kin

cast down anew

with each effort

‘ere they reach

their goal

trembling

in unquenched anticipation

quivering

at their impending doom

hopes dashed

by the hand of the sun

sorrow

kindled afresh

with each rebuff

will they reach

their heart’s desire

or are they

forever bound

to repeat their futile

entreaty

tethered firmly

to their earthly

home

The way you've wrote this and as I read down the lines... seems the verse is as the title says, "Undoing"... Thanks for sharing...
