They burned the barn down

last night I know

the fire department came

to make sure it was done right

it was an old barn

in the family for generations

good and bad memories

no one argued as to why they should

there was just that weird feeling

day or night in the barn

they all felt it-something

staring at them as they walked by

Grandfather hanged himself

inside there in the winter of '35

it was hard to keep a family alive

now decades later they didn't see

something had not really died

the hired hand was late one night

for a meal in the main house

they found him hanging inside there

even the Police felt a cold stare

something they couldn't explain

so they burned the barn down

down to the ground...

threw salt over the remains

and had prayed over it in Jesus's Name

to be double sure you see

somethings just have to be

took the burnt wood to the dump

whatever it was  went far away

Peace grew on the farm

Love and Laughter returned too

right after the night

they burned the barn down...
