Young man with tattoo hands
old woman begging on city street,
drunk lying in a gutter,
people you'll never meet
Young woman crying on a cell phone
old man beside a forgotten grave,
Lemmings saying they are different
no one reaches out to save
And I alone on a park bench
think of love far away,
held in the arms of another,
leaving me with little to say
Except I was a fool
as the cold bites my skin,
here on the boulevard of broken dreams,
my soul sheds tears, deep within
Will I ever see you up close
before death kisses my face?
for its you I long to see,
alone with you in your place
Blackness of night crowding me
solitary voice cries in the night,
mixed with the tears of a million others
the boulevard is not a pretty sight
Of broken dreams..a work of art in this splendid poem.
