Answering a childs question

* My Child.

I heard you say the other day," Why am I not like you.
My hair is black, my eys are brown, your eyes are bright bright blue,
Your hair is fair, so is your skin, mine has a brownish hue,
What is the difference, why is it so, why am I unlike you?."

"Yes my darling, these things are true and here's the reason why
It's time you knew about your life, in a time that's now passed by,
You were born in a land that's far away, a land of strife and war
Where bad things happen each passing day, things you can't recall.

We had no children of our own, although we tried and tried,
I longed so much to hear the sound of babies laughs and cries.
All the doctors told me this, it wouldn't be ours to know,
The happiness of a family life, to watch our children grow.

We were told there was no chance of gaining some one here,
That the waiting list was so long it could be years and years,
Before the right one came along to fit our family mould
And even then as time went on, by then we'd be far to old.

So we looked around all over, throughout our great big land,
Searching for an answer, how to gain the things we'd planned
At last there came a suggestion, it came from overseas,
The was a tiny orphenage, it was filled with refugees.

We travelled to your country as quickly as we could,
Filling in the papers, doing all the things we should
To make you ours forever more, part of our family life
For the moment that I saw you there, my heart filled with delight.

To me there is no difference, in colour of hair or skin,
For the moment that I saw you there, a flood of love rushed in.
It bonded me forever, my life from then was yours
Our darling we had prayed and waited for, what is ours for ever more.

We chose you, Oh so carefully, to us you seemed so right.
To complete our little family, and we'd watch you through the night
Thanking God for our miracle of love, chosen with so much care
You made our lives become so complete, as our love you came to share.

So if someone ever tells you, that you really don't fit in.
Because your hair is black and shiny, you've got different coloured skin. You can tell them oh so proudly and you know it's always true .
Your family chose you for this reason, the fact that they love you.
