Where the little boy napped

I walked along this path one day
and up against a tree,
I came upon a little boy
and fast asleep was he.

Why are you napping there?
I prodded with my words,
but instead of answering me,
He handed me some curds.

What be this I quickly asked,
As he began to moan,
yet he still didn't answer me,
And kept up with his groan.

I looked and saw what was at hand,
For now I'd become quite bold,
As I gazed at this half-wake boy,
A story it foretold.

He happened to be walking
On this path today,
Why by chance he came upon,
Some curds along his way.

So he picked them up and began to eat
these tasty curds you see,
But they gave him such a tummy ache,
So he laid there by the tree.

Well it just so happens he fell asleep,
Not caring about the day,
Along I came seeing him there,
While passing on my way.

I came up close to this sickly boy
As swollen as he could be,
I looked him in the eye and asked
How 'bout you come with me?

He moaned some more and began to cry,
This little boy you see,
He then raised his arms up high,
To hoist himself to me.

And now here he is with his belly full
No more against the tree,
This little boy with a tummy ache
And along our way went we.

You are a good samaritan > who knows what may have happened to the little boy napping by the tree.

For a child who reads this [as I see it] there are two valuable lessons:
(1) don't over-indulge
(2) always help strangers in need

Wonderful!
