the loss of innocence...inevitable.

'twas last night when i dreamt of such beauty profound
boundless and depthless like time i could not comprehend
of the starry sight on a moonless night, i lay bedazzled
or the bright blue moonglow on the cloudless skies, still, lay i enchanted
was it when daunting questions dared not ask of a heart so flawless
or when deceitful knowledge dared not seek after a soul so wise
was it when words are versed from a sea of romanticized moments
or when laughter echoed lavishly in hte richness of the wild nature divine
was it when songs were composed of cool breezes and seraph's whispers
or when melodies were danced by fragrant cherubs amidst scarlet red flowers
was it when love, treasured beyond any coined value of earthly price,
solely and rightfully prevailed
or when immortality meant a life lived of simple pleasures,
and a death died of pure silence
midnight struck the end; stood i, facing, fathoming the sunrise
shadows floating endlessly before my presence,
my childhood to stand before it all
why must the moon stay quiet while the ever-glorious sun
embraced its darkness
never may i grow back small, enough to be innocuous,
enough for me to know
the night, sullen yet sweet;
all its mysteries to my indubious vision now revealed
should my eyes have kept itself closed while the stark morning stood
that starlit dream last night, would have forever graced.

Omega Factor by John Henning

Take some time to walk outside of your own mind and into another, walk slowly and carefully; the mind that you step on might be your own.
