i cannot see past the pavement;
nothing past the fork on the road.
yet i know you fly above me
like a flawless angel, so innocent,
so beautiful, unknown.
i cannot see not even feel,
the pattern of sunlight behind nocturnal skies;
but i know, surely, you trace my steps,
taking one with me, one at a time.
i have no certainty in life, no,
not in my knowledge of science and things.
truly, i have nothing to show, not enough,
in comparison to everything you bring,
to my life. i am such a fool,
thinking one day you'll pass me by.
when with all certainty, i truly know,
