Warm heat slaps you in the face,
As you step outside the airplane.
You look further to see oasis trees,
Shaking in belly-dancing curves.
The wind so strong,
Changing the course of many lives.
The images of water are to be seen,
On the tar covered tracks far away.
Sand dunes stand straight and tall,
Just as stories had described them.
Transformation took place unawares,
A step into Time never so easy.
The bards had sung their songs,
Throughout the Ages,
Tradition had outlived all.
The smell of burning "bukhur",
A Protection from all evils.
Men sitting around the fire
Sipping Strongly brewed
Turkish Coffee,
Smoking a bubbling "shisha",
How strawberry and apple flavours,
Mingled in the air.
The Arabic spoken was soothing,
A Melodic gift to ones ears.
The hospitality shown,
Made one feel at home.
As if Born and Bred,
Amongst them,
Never a stranger.
This is so good. Written with such great imageries and the feelings of never a stranger was superb! Makes me feel like I wanted to be there too. Beautiful write!
