The dilemma to continue a monotonous life is maddening for all! We seem to follow a certain cycle always. Today is a repetition of yesterday, As shall be tomorrow and the day after. Certain chores are done consistently throughout the day. We wake up every morning to the same alarm clock, and rush to the bathroom to wash our face and address Nature's call, Then run off to wear uniforms for daily jobs, by taking the same route with the same means of transport. Everday, for many days, We resemble machinery in a factory, adhering to the laws of constant production through the abolition of the intellect. Mop the floors, cook, clean, whilst remembering to be a loyal wife and affectionate mother. Jobs! Duties! Awaiting us all, Eat, Sleep, GET UP and REPEAT!!
I just read Bhuwan Thapilaya's "Is not life a living tomb?" It seems that "Maddening" has similar tones, except that in Bhuwan's poem there is a desolation of spirit implied that is not present in your write. That it is maddening, indicates that there is hope of something different, a break-out if only a chance presented itself. I enjoyed this well-done piece, Cassandra.
