She stands straight,
Allowing her belly to portrude,
Beneath the flowing abaya,
She is pregnant in the womb,
Her eyes are timid and shy,
Awaiting for her husband to nod,
And allow her very movement,
To go forward,
As he stands straight,
Overpowering and manly,
Boasting his very authority,
Over his precious possession.
A powerful write in very few words. I see the pride in the young man's eyes, but am I seeing something else between the lines that perhaps goes to ambivalent feelings of the young pregnant bride?
Best wishes,
Leland
Esra, this write is superb: eloquent in its conveyance of love both ways, written with such power in so few words. The imagery is astoundingly clear. ~~Bonnie Q

This is so lovely I am left speechless...such power in a few words.
The love between them is felt here. And that is how it should be
between husband and wife. Lovely work Esra..floria
A further collection of poems, many from years in the Middle East, but also the California San Francisco and Central Coast areas (Santa Cruz, Carmel, Big Sur, Berkeley, etc.).
Contraband Marriage, traveling along the hemline of loving after incarceration, is a love story written in lyric and free form, set in reality with a different ever after.
Best wishes,
