Canadian Winter Walk
On a cold winters day stepped out into the cold
My furry blue hat keeping my ears from freezing cold
The cold air I felt travelling down to my lungs
Cold winter winds nipping at my nose and down to my toes
As I took each step in my warm winter boots
The crackling sounds as I took each step in the new fallen snow
The blue sky overhead filled with clouds of white
Lends colour to the world below
The trees wearing their white mittens
I walked on swinging my arms walking on this winters day
My coat crackling as my arms swung at my sides
The vision of smoke billowing from chimneys as I looked straight ahead
The cars passed by slowly with clouds following behind
I walked on the birds not singing too cold to make bird sounds
The squirrels in their leaf homes high off the ground
My cheeks pinched from the winter's cold
I remember the feeling from many winters past
The appreciation for the warmth of a home
The sounds of the crackling and snapping from the cold
Were the only sounds I kept hearing while walking home
Home at last I opened the door meeting the warmth of the air
I will now sit down and enjoy my hot cup of tea
Tomorrow will strike out again in winters white lands
Thinking it will not be long hopefully before seeing spring again!
