One of the problems of aging--loss of hearing. And, people who will not answer the phone who are in the room, because they don't think the call is important.
As you already know, I have both problems. My mother, now in assisted living, will not answer the phone because she can't hear it ringing and has difficulty getting to it when she does see it flashing. So, she calls me instead, and with her TTY, we are able to have a somewhat disconnected, conversation.
On the other side, I sometimes get calls when I can't get to the phone. Unless asked, they will not answer for me, and that can be a bit frustrating.
