Merely one memory of waitressing. Some people!!

Poem Artwork

Hello my name is Jane
What beverage want you
Look at your menu please
Warm rolls with butter too

Your smart phone makes a sound
You're asking me to wait
Five other tables I
(These types to wait I hate)

Told her I'll be right back
Took care my section well
Back to the smart phone gal
Trying a car to sell

Just water say her lips
Bring back to "lady phone'
No menu please said she
Then she walked out alone

While back of house gets riled
When I tell them of her
Sweet hostess seats again
Her mem'ries just a blur

A perfect vernacular for the life of a waitress.

All that is the reason you get the BIG money, L0L, but I know most wait staff live on their tips, as the job itself pays so very little.-e-

Good riddance to the cheap customer.

I was confused by the last two lines. Did the distracted phone lady return and get seated again?

My mother worked a few years as a waitress in an IGA grocery store lunch counter. As a college instructor, I came in and hopped on a stool. She was there in a flash with her pad asking for my order while she poured me a fresh cup of coffee. Before you could say, "fast food," she was delivering my cheap hamburger just the way I ordered it. Needless to say, I tipped her handsomely. After many hours on her feet, racing to serve customers in a hurry on their 15 minute break from the clinic, she was used to getting nickels and dimes for tips.

I owned a restaurant for 8 years, so I can really relate to your fun poem. I personally think everyone should work in food service at least once in their life. Maybe then there would be a better understanding and more respect for others. Dealing with the general public is not for the faint of heart. Just keep my coffee cup filled.

Ha! fun poem, but waitressing is hard work, it seems.
I had a stint at Fatso's Pasta Joint. We had a deal
on the pasta - all you can eat - and one guy had 5
plates of the stuff!

ALL IN A DAYS WORK, JANE...MY HAT'S OFF TO YOU, MY FRIEND. I HAVE A GRAND DAUGHTER THAT DOES THE SAME THING...PUSHING, TAKING CARE OF HERSELF AND HER DAUGHTER. BE STRENGTHENED, PRESS-ON AND TRUST IN GOD FOR ALL YOUR BLESSINGS. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

Regis got it right. All those waitresses and nurses who have helped me in life deserved to be recognized and highly tipped.

I admire waitresses and nurses who experience mostly thanklessness. Love and best wishes to you, Jane.

Yep, you meet all kinds when you work as a waitress. I found myself seeing that woman/girl/whatever as she made herself at home while you were sent for this and that, knowing she wouldn't leave anything for the kitty.

Perhaps the woman was down on her luck and couldn't even afford a cofee, that was why she needed to sell her car. Sad, but that could have been what was happenning.

You Look FatCalgary by RickthePoetWarrior
