Sad story inspired by a newscast.

Returning from Afghanistan
Went there returning quite a man
Tom's girlfriend waited staying true
Love letters ink written in blue

To celebrate went for a ride
His motorcycle was his pride
Obeying road laws was his way
But not for all so sad to say

A guy called Bud had left a bar
Staggered but still got in his car
Went driving through the town so fast
Not knowing dice already cast

Bill riding free enjoying life
Gone bombs and bullets all that strife
He never saw the car behind
Driven by Bud so drunk half blind

Returning from Afghanistan
Went there returning quite a man
Came home to feel that freedom ring
His girlfriend just can't feel a thing

This happens far to often to our vets, and much of the time it goes unnoticed until it's to late.

Beautifully and poignantly written. Add to that all of those with PTSD and what a shame that war and bad behavior has put on all of us. "There but for good fortune…" Is true for all of us. The difference, in Tom's case, is that it caught the eye of the media and was reported. So much tragedy like this isn’t.
