Island Dreams

 “Island Dreams”


 


When the wind fills my sails


And the bow pierces the swells


Cares melt into the abyss


Sun warms your skin with its gentle kiss


A cool breeze caressing your face


The open water is a breath-taking place


The view is priceless and solitude of the richest kind


No computers, phones, faxes or paperwork to sign


Only you, "Island Dreams", the wind and the water


You are the captain of this charter


Like the wheel, clay and water for the potter


Here there is nothing to create


Only the metaphor equates


The sun and the sound of the waves


Are the necessities your soul craves


To be one with the ocean


Is an intoxicating potion


There are no chores to be done


No deadlines or important meetings to run


Your destiny lies in the wind


Your self-preservation is on the mend


With the island in plain sight


Dreams begin to take flight


When your feet touch the sand


Freedom is in the palm of your hand

That was my dream for many years, to sail off and treasure hunt scuba diving when I retire. Wonderful visions here.

I'm not much on sailing, although when I lived in California I went often because of the woman I was seeing. I do enjoy solitude, however, and I quite agree, that even with woman and the sailboat in California I came to a bit of peace and solitude even with her there, we both did, I think.
