This subject is different for everyone, so bear with me in my ramblings, thank you!

Poem Artwork

 First one needs a theme,

Possibly something from a dream,

Maybe about islands in an oceanic stream,

From there I think it’s best to work on the scheme.

So much goes into a story; I know not where to start,

With me, for instance, I just write what comes to mind,

Maybe how I metal detect on my home island & what I find,

If it turns out to be historic it cannot be removed or you’re fined,

I got to tell you I wish I could discover something historic,

So far I have found all of a quarter & a dime,

But I don’t very much give it enough time.

Everyone has their differing ideas regards their stories,

Some may work as if they are in laboratories,

While others may break down their thoughts into categories,

Personally I just let my thoughts flow & grow, no matter how slow,

Sometimes I start with an idea, and then expand on that to the extreme,

Seemingly doing so till I can’t make anymore, therein I just scream!

Ed, you keep on using that metal detector! I know a couple who do that for fun. They have found good jewelry along with all the other regular stuff. Cool! I would go use it on a golf course!

Love ya!

That's your story, and you're sticking to it. Write on.

That was a great buildup about how you write stories. But I haven't seen any of your stories lately for me to comment on… A dirty rotten shame!

But I believe in this poem you ended it with a little hyperbole. Unless I was present when you scream or have posted a YouTube video of you doing it, I find that one hard to believe. Perhaps it's the other way around like when I'm writing a boring story… Dozing off.

Thank you for reminding me not to get a metal detector and go running off looking for buried treasure like they do on TV so successfully. (Do they plant artifacts to find? Probably… You betcha!)

Yes! I love to be inspired to write a story. But that does not happen often. I have written a few (short stories). As you know, my "stuff" is usually very succinct. Like this story for example:

Ness

People call me Ness. Those who think they are my friends call me Nessie. It’s ironic. They give me the name of the monster from Loch Ness. They have no idea how close they are to the monster within me.

It’s not even my first name.

I’ve been on the street for quite a few years now. I have no idea who my father was and my mother literally threw me out of the house when I was fourteen years of age. She did it after I completely destroyed one of her boyfriends who thought he would get his way with me. Something happened within me and I looked right into his eyes and he went crazy. I’d never seen anyone so afraid.

I knew from that moment that I have a gift. It’s not so bad on the street at all. With my gift, I can get whatever I want. I don’t abuse it. The abusers, though, are getting fewer by the day. I’m pretty and young and they are attracted to me. I can read through their thoughts. I wait for just the right moment and look right into their eyes. That is all. They become insane and will not abuse anyone anytime soon.

I am grateful for my gift. By the way, my first name has always been Dark.

Love and peace to you, Ed...

Excellent wordage, Ed. You convey a universal truth. In other words you just go with the poetical flow.
