‘The Lightkeeper’
He is the keeper of the light, who saves,
An answer to a sailor’s prayers
His eyes attuned to stealing darkness,
Whose footsteps echo in spiralling stairs
Far out in the deepest dark
The sentinel stands proud
In vistas of timeless waiting
A lonely escape from the pressing crowd
Distant shores a sweet illusion,
Watching ships sail slowly by
Endless silent days that drift
A lonely albatross that longs to fly
