'Glad Days & bright Moons'
How simple life seemed to be,
When the moon hung between us
On the horizon,
So bright and bold and complete
And we talked and we listened,
About everything and nothing
As we supped our happiness,
From bowls of ambrosia, like the gods
How the glad days spread before us,
As sure as the sun would rise
On every day forever,
Like a warm blanket of spun gold
How could it not be so,
How little were our wants
And how those days vanished,
As we settled like cozy slippers by the fire
That bright completeness stole away,
And the moon never saw it leave
In the reality of endings,
And all the dark nights fell upon us
Would everything between us,
Still, echoing in the silence
Murmur adieu,
Where we once were, so young and so free
