It's all about the poet & the poetry

 'A Poet for all Seasons'

Fire and storms, dark and light,
High winds and whipping seas
Cold clicking ice and burning suns,
Soaring hawks and soft blowing breeze

Love and romance,
Passion and dreams
Pity with sorrow,
Stitched into seams

Real lives and realities,
Emotions that fly free
Expressions that burn,
In faces we see

The comedies, the tragedies,
Life on a stage
War and peace,
Protests and rage

Spiritual heavens to inspire,
With transcendent travels
The heaven, the earth,
The mysteries we unravel

Human behaviour
With all it's quirks,
Truth at the heart,
And all life's works

The poets that ponder,
And live in their minds
The imagination and dreams,
For all humankind

For all that we have learned, we've only just begun to scratch the surface. Long live the pondering poet.

Leaves a lot to think about, and also, a lot to write further poetry about.

I began writing "secret" words around the sixth grade in school. Secret because I feared they would laugh at my words. Then one day, I showed some of my words to a pretty girl. She loved my words, and that was the beginning of me sharing my words, and then many years later, discovered Authors Den.

Nicely expressed, Mary. Poetry is simply the most beautiful, impressive, and widely effective mode of saying things. Mary Oliver said it well: "Poetry isn't a profession, it's a way of life. It's an empty basket; you put your life into it and make something out of that." Thanks for sharing. Peace... r
