A reflection on melancholy

Those days when melancholy

Strikes my heart

And I fall into the silence

A pool of sorrow

And I long and wish

I could forget

To remember

And find again

The joys of being

On the edge of a wing

Glinting in the sun

Of happiness

Or hearing a note

Floating on the breeze

Of a fine summer's day

A shimmer in a song

Feel again the swish

Of the grasses in the meadow

Against my sun browned legs

Listen to the humming bees

All of these perfect moments

That beg me to remember

The wings, the music, the meadows

That ripple across the sorrows of silence

Excellent write.

Old time music, my favorite songs will light sparks in me. The older the better! I even love songs before my time from the 1940's. The music just makes me come alive! The best way to listen to music is in an easy chair with no distractions. Then I can drift off to another place in space and time. It's FUN!

Hope you can drift into music as well. Have FUN!

The sooner we leave those glum dreary thoughts and get into the sun, the quicker we will feel right again. Your poem certainly had its somber moments, but showed the way to sunshine by the end. Well done.

Take those perfect moments,
and tuck them safely away.
They're there when you need them,
saved for a melancholy day.
