Everyone has that moment that changes your life forever. This is a lament.

'Echoes'

Somewhere I heard that sound,

That echoes

Through your life,

Forever

That one moment,

That never leaves

But lies in quiet ripples,

That flow against your heart

With the joy unbidden,

Those dreams that wait

To know again,

What you knew before

That distillation of everything,

In that moment

Measuring your life,

Against before and after

When the snow flies,

In crystals of perfection

To blanket the sounds,

Of a sleeping world

And you long to awaken,

To see fields of glistening white

In the silent dawn,

To muffle that echo of yesterday

This poem is a gentle holding of the hand of the reader, reminding us of those moments in our lives. joyful or sorrowful, that seem to mark our "before" and our "after". I know just what you mean, and I think I have a few of them! Love your use of metaphor throughout, and the ending is melancholy loveliness. Wonderful piece.
