'Did you Know'

Did you know I might have passed you,

On some crowded street

Perhaps in the throng rushing by,

Lost in the rain that poured down

Another unremarkable event,

In all of the moments

That might have been,

Exceptional

We might have mingled ,

In some pleasant place

Yet never knew,

We were so close

We might have danced by the sea,

Or sailed on a boat

Through sweet summer winds,

Above the ocean's sway

In all of everything that might have been,

In the gathering of life's mischief

As we so nearly were,

It never was so

So why don't we meet,

And I can say

How it was meant to be,

Exceptional
