Protest poem

'Emancipation'

Bitter tears can't wash your clothes,
The leveling down of aspiration
Begging to survive,
Isn't social integration

The end of dreams doesn't happen,
In a moment of despair
It's the grinding down in endless days,
Your spirit beyond repair

The doors slam shut at every turn,
You don't have any class
Invisible in the dying days,
Of a cultural impasse

Should you chafe in rags,
And accept the situation
Or join a revolution,
For social emancipation

The world is shrinking by the hour,
In mass communication
Every text a rebellion,
Against our annihilation

So many are locked out of great potential by mere appearances. That has to change, and it is changing, with all of the media being reminded of the injustice daily.

Dear Mary,
This poem is packed with insightful feelings of life and many of it's frustrations. I think we have all been at this breaking point but not able to express it so vividly and poetically.
Well done!
