A poem to inspire

'The Inevitability of Change'

Did I see the challenges,

The cast of characters

The inspiration,

To light that flame

Did I sift the sands that ran,

Like liquid pain through my heart

The gulfs that opened,

To swallow my soul

Did I retreat and surrender,

To the trials and tribulations

Or pound that fear,

Into the fight for life

Did I climb that staircase,

To open the door

Invite the storm,

To tear down my resistance

Did I adjust to compromise,

Or fight those waves that met

The best part of me,

That swam against the tide

Rather I became,

The inevitability of change

That knows the difference,

Between the impostor and the flame

Knowing the difference between the impostor and the flame
is that elusive element that few ever learn.
One of your best, Mary.

What metaphors! What a lesson! I can't believe that others have not commented on this beautiful poem of how to deal with the "slings and arrows" that life throws at us.
