I want my fingers to roam across
The shelves of books
In the legendary library of Alexandria
I want to sit in conversation
And while away the hours
On a shore beside
The azure sea
And drink the wisdom
Of Grecian philosophy
Would that I could
Pass the time of day
In the splendid company
Of Shakespeare
As he weaves his words
And pageantry in a play
And lie beneath the stars
And listen to Galileo
As he observes
The mountains on the moon
And the phases of Venus
Yet here I am
In the times I live in
Listening to the singing
Of the sea
On lovely Rathlin Island
And isn’t that the finest
Place I could ever be

Still, time allows us to be whatever we want to be, and through bucket lists in retirement travel to those places where great ideas were placed on paper so long ago. Unfortunately, the great library of Alexandria is under the sea.
