Ceremony and emotion run high
As a most special day flies by
Dreams and hopes in high gear
You started your marriage with no fear


Marriage became family as children arrived
With your love and discipline we thrived
Infants became toddlers and toddlers became kids
Did you ever consider the gypsy slave bids?


Through love and fear you’ve seen it all
Those nights fearfully waiting for a call
Your children grew into their own
Always knowing who to call for a loan

Now grandchildren run and play
Bright sparks of light to fill your day
As they grow, you see your influence
And silently think, we are paying our penance

The years you dreamed of have come
Many memories take on a quiet hum
And if you ask, to what do I owe this poem
We are all grateful for a loving home

35 years have come and gone
Each day brings you another dawn
Years have passed with many left
We hope each of us is as deft

Here’s our toast to many more years
We hope there are more cheers than tears
While certain memories we are repressing
We always count you as our blessing
