Tall ocean waves crashing above, my sky
Relicted ship boards creak beneath me, my earth
My first birth cries are welcomed by strangers
Small drafty cabin is my only world
Fragile young strands snap with abandonment
The darkness of my sight engulfs my life
Benevolent stranger becomes father
His loving support retrieves my lost soul
Shared knowledge heals my freshly broken wings
My dream-filled days of youth change as I grow
New emotions fill my longer hours
Hearts break with my disappointment of love
My lover’s promises go unfulfilled
Our secret night caresses have turned cold
My body aches with life and broken dreams
A new life brings joy to all it touches
Some souls are too blinded to embrace joy
My obsession makes my darkness deeper
To be blind is a complicated life
Sometimes it’s only the absence of light
Sometimes it is the absence of knowledge
In my life it is the absence of all
Absence of all but hope for the future
