All of us choose to have faith in something, that is what is important George. Does not matter what our faith is as long as it is not man or money or things. On the other side, we must have some sort of structure to our lives as in our day to day living. I agree with Ronald in part he is very wise :) However, I will not go into how others choose to worship, if it gives comfort then this is good, I do not follow a religion for I see what it has done to many... I will also not banter with others on it. All must walk a path they choose and this is what is most important. :)

A lot to think about here. Yes, we all need structure and routine just to get you every day and survive like our ancestors. These patterns developed long ago when our ancestors feared almost everything because death was always imminent and the only thing they had to hold onto was some faith that something better would happen to help them. But they all died in the end and their survival was merely the fact that they had children who survived after them.

Today it is different. We still need a good foundation built on the shoulders of giants. But we know the odds of being struck by lightning and find shelter. We do not have to rely on faith to protect us from lightning. If lightning does strike us, it is not because we didn't have faith or we were bad. It is because we were struck by chance. It is a small price to pay for not having faith. We will die anyway.

Never more truthful words were ever written, George. I cast aside the artificial foundation I was given and went looking for my own. Never found it. Still looking. Lost so much during those years I looked. But I also gained something most important, self identity.
