There are words that tell a story

That a poet has composed.

It's part of his life's story,

But not about himself, most of the time.

His mind has a picture before him,

And he paints from what he has seen.

It could be all makebelieve,

And many times it is.

But it is all real to the reader,

As it's what everyone has seen.

What good is a story

If you cannot relate to it?

So he tells of happenings

To people like you and me.

He invents, he transposes,

Life as it is around him.

There are no limitations to

Which this writer is confined to.

But he has to make it worth

The readers time to read it.
