I drew my sword,

Knowing it was the end.

But vanity must die,

To show you are a man.

He was the better swordsman,

Having killed a number of men.

But my honor was at stake,

And I'll not be a coward.

He lunged at me,

But I stepped aside.

With one quick thrust,

I caught him in his side.

He fought on, though weak,

But now the duel was mine.

I parried with him for awhile,

And then I lunged and he was dead.

I've not had to fight with vanity, but it sounds quite hard

It looks like the days of duels is not over. Just when did you do this chivalrous feat? I hope it was just in your imagination, because to kill a man this way is not fun unless you are stone cold pathological.

to have defeated vanity is a great feat George, most cannot dodge or parry with it and win

Vanity has killed for sure a number of men.
You’re a wise man with a lot of life experience George, to know when to step aside when vanity attacks, to know when and how to counter attack and finally to conquer vanity.

Great write George

We are all (most of us) caught up into the swirling vortex of vanity at time in their lives. For the most of those it isn't as easy as you make it sound to conquer the beast.
