Marking the trail

With peanut shells.

All that followed

Were squirrels and elves.

I was deep in the forest

Before I realized I was lost.

Why did I not think

Before I ventured so far.

Tried to back track,

A peanut shell here and there.

But all was lost I thought,

I'll die in this woods.

Days went bye, with not a sound.

No food or water, I'll die of thirst.

Soon I became weak,

Lost in my thoughts.

When my eyes opened,

The trees were gone.

How did I get here?

Death knows its own.
