Waking at the tapping of dawn

Of the morn's strong breeze.

There in a dream I just had

Stood the woman or her ghost.

She had the smile of an angel,

As I wondered why she was here.

She spoke with the grace of a queen,

As she stood before her king.

She showed me an important paper,

That stunned me awake.

It appears it says she is my wife,

An event I can't recall.

She mentioned the child she was carrying,

Was a bond of our marriage.

Two events, so early in the morning,

Was more than I could contest.

She explained all the happenings,

That made us man and wife.

And while I vaguely remember,

There was much truth in what she said.
