The day has broken

And I was late arrousing.

Sometimes sleep is so good,

That waking is not what I wanted to do.

But here I am and here I'll stay,

Till night time once again comes my way.

Just an old codger taking up space,

Wondering when I'll end this chase.

Getting old has it's draw backs,

As too many friends have gone away.

The world can get kind of lonely

But in the end there is that light of ray.

The light of hope, a beacon of safety.

Promised eons ago when Christ came this way.

They placed Him on a hill, nailed to a cross-

Died just for us, showing us His way.

I'd be foolish to not follow Him.

He led by example and even rose the dead.

Too simple a person for His time;

They were expecting a king, and there He was.

Jesus was a simple person. We should all live like that. I'm so glad that you are comfortable with your age and your inevitability. So am I.

Robin Ouzman Hislop's poetry is certainly in dialogue with some of the key architects of the 'poetics of indeterminacy' – both the Modernist strands represented by the likes of Beckett and Stein, and the postmodernist strands represented, initially,
