Can there be an edge of time

That I can sharpen when I dine.

For the hunger that lies within

Cannot be filled with beer or gin.

I scrape the morsel from my plate,

Hungering  now for one last date.

To feel the warmth of lady fair

Is what I crave, if I dare.

O days of youth, why have you left?

Of all the joys, I’m now bereft.

Can there be a new rebirth,

If I should see a blowing skirt?

Sad are the  moments all alone,

I miss the ringing of my phone.

Those Friday nights when we were young,

And danced to songs Sinatra sung.
